9 Fun Facts Growing up in a Ger

Does happiness depend on how many rooms or how much you have?

When I say I grew up in a ger some people think poverty. Well, I never starved of love. Here are the fun facts growing up in a ger:

  1. You never feel alone
  2. You are always in the same house wherever you move house
  3. There is no bed time different from adults
  4. You can see the stars through the window on top
  5. Everyone eats together facing each other because of the round shape
  6. In the summer, you can ‘see through’ the wall once the felt covers lifted up
  7. You can pretend you are asleep and eavesdrop adults’ conversation
  8. You can never be sent to your room
  9. You can grill marshmallows any day you want in the stove

  1. I’ve just found this post. Sounds like fun especially toasting marshmallows but where did you get them in Mongolia? I will have to read your book when It’s published and find out more.
