F is for Finds

My son just found the box of soup in a state agent's window. Happily marking the list.

I often wonder if life is about finding. Starting from choosing our names to finding the right school, perfect home, dream job and our partner to spend the rest of our lives. The list goes on and on and on.

Today, my husband spent the afternoon hunting for odd objects in shop windows in our town with our six-year-old son. Every Easter, the town organises this for children. My husband told me that this old woman stopped and chatted to him and my son. She said ‘They are STILL not doing the Easter hunt, are they?! I remember doing it with my sons and they are in their thirties!’

Never mind our son, we were excited doing it with him. You could see other children and parents were racing with you, the kids sniggering if they knew what the odd object was in a particular window. The shop owners watch you as you stare at their windows looking for anything different from what they sell. So far, we found a pink paper clip at a flooring shop, chilli pepper earrings at a jewelry shop, a shoe polish at a computer shop and a monkey climbing up a sign at an estate agent’s to name a few. It’s great fun.

Perhaps, this is just an example of how our life is. What is your biggest find in your life? Are you still looking for something? Someone?

  1. Oh it sounds so exciting, children love activities like this. We used to do this when I was in the Brownies many moons ago. My greatest find has got to be my husband he’s a real tresure and gave me my gorgeous babies. lovely post again.
