Oh my word!
I mean literally, oh my words!
I started learning English more than a decade ago and still I can not tell the difference between a vest and a waistcoat. Every time I use one of these words I have to think and end up saying both of them.
Do you have words like these? Please leave a comment and reassure me that I’m not the only one. Thank you.
Ooohhh…. I guess in British English there’s a difference. In New World English, though, there’s no real difference except that “waistcoat” is more of a formal attire thing. My post for today is also on Words, and *exactly* about these dangerous similarities 🙂 No, sweetheart, you’re most definitely *not* alone 😀

I know they both look pretty similar. If you can visualize the word “waistcoat”–it’s like a sleeveless top that hugs the waist. A vest is just a sleeveless top that buttons down the front. The vest sample you have there looks like a tanktop (sleeveless top without buttons)!

Some people do call a waistcoat a vest. I wouldn’t but some do. I like how you managed two letters in one post,sneaky!
